Born in Puerto Rico, John Yohe grew up in Michigan. Salem, Oregon is now home base. He has worked as a wildland firefighter, deckhand/oiler, runner/busboy, bike messenger, wilderness ranger, fire lookout, as well as a teacher of writing.
